The Maid Of Otago was a Steel Hulled Schooner Vessel. She was enroute to Riverton from Dunedn when she steered into a severe gale wind that pushed her into Howell Rocks where she sank, This incident happened on September 23, 1886. Today she rests in shallow waters, easily accessible by any level diver. She is broken up and her remains scattered. Home to a large variety of marine life and corals. A very interesting dive.
