This wreck can sometimes be completely covered by the sand (this depends on the season). One can see three freestanding boilers and a large steam engine which lies on its side. When the wreck is uncovered you can follow the propeller shaft (which protrudes from the engine) to the stern. The stern section contains the remnants of the steering quadrant. The bow section is often covered with sand and lies separate from the other two sections. When the Veturia was originally discovered only 1 foot of the bow was visible (uncovered). Some time later another diver dived the site and, although the bow was only uncovered by another one or two feet, the ships bell was now exposed (and swiftly recovered). The Veturia was a 424 foot long ship so either a lot of it is still covered by the sand or the rest has been washed away.
