About USS Chippewa Wreck

This old Navy Tug was named after a tribe of Indians that lived around Lake Superior. She has been in service since since 1942, mainly working in the Carribean. In 1947 she was decomissioned and placed in the Navy's Reserves. Finally in 1989 she was given to the Navy 's Experimental Dive Unit. In 1990 she was sunk to form part of a artificial reef.
