This Coast Gaurd Cutter was built in Minnesota, USA in 1943. In January 1980 she collided with a atanker known as 'The Capricon' in where 23 of the Blackthorn crew were killed. Her hull was severly damaged after the accident which resulted in her being towed, and eventually sunk to form part of a artificial reef. Is is considered to be Pinella County's best wreck dive with lots to see and explore.
