This dive site features the wreck of the R.P Resor that was torpedoed. It burnt for days and many lives were lost. The rescue ship, the USS Jacob Jones was then also torpedoed by the U-578 while it searched for any surviving crewmembers. The stern is the most intact part of the ship; most of the plating has broken off leaving large metal latticework that rises askance about 40 feet from the bottom. The bow is much smaller. Between the larger pieces, a large low-lying debris field exists. One can see some very large lobsters, scallop and game fish at this wreck. One can see quite well as visibility is generally rather good. It is a very popular site for deep-sea fisherman.
