About Pumpkin Rock

This deeper site is located inshore of the popular Apartments dive site. Bottom depth is 100'-115'. Pumpkin rock is so named because of the rounded lower portion of the rock (covered by montipora coral) and topped by a square lava protrusion. With a little imagination it looks like a pumpkin. The charm of the area is the profusion of tropical fish that swarm over numerous lava pinnacles and ridges. When the fish are active the panoramic scene is magical. It is a great photographic site for both wide angle and macro. It is an advanced dive site due to the depth and frequent current.
