About Hanauma Bay

This dive site used to attract over 10 000 visitors on a daily basis, although now it has been limited to 3000 people. This dive site is perfect for snorkeling, swimming and diving as well as offering other facilities. It was originally the cone of a volcano but the ocean eventually breached it and helped to form a natural bay that is protected from heavy winds and rough seas. In 1967 the site was declared a State Marine Life Conservation District and it boasts a huge variety of fish. Depths can reach up to 70 feet and the bottom reefs and wall structures offer amazing exploration. One should dive with a professional guide due to the rip currents building seaward.
