This dive site, Big Horn National Recreation Area, can be found about 90 miles south of Billings. It is a fine diving site that was created when a hydroelectric dam was built on the Big Horn River. It boasts steep canyon walls that carry on past the water level. This allows for fascinating topography. There are fish present but they can be rather shy. This includes ling, small mouth bass, carp and walleye. The reservoir is about 50 miles long with its southern end in Wyoming. It is a very popular site for water sports and fishing. The canyon also boasts small coves, allowing one to have some privacy from water skiers.
