Bob's Rock is a fantastic dive site with lots of coral and marine life. The current can be difficult at times but just make sure not to go too far out. Take care not too get too close to whales during their migration season, November through to January. This site is perfect for macro photographers and it's host of rare and mysterious species make it even more alluring. One can find a big gorgonian fan at 20 meters deep where pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti) live and to the west of it you can see a lot of garden eels. Other creatures living in and around this dive site mantis shrimp, leaf scorpion fish, ornate and robust ghost pipefish, commensal and nudibranchs shrimps and rare white mushroom coral pipefish. The name Bob's Rock is derived from a large rock on the side of the road that has Bob written on it. Overall this is a great dives site where one can see many different things in one dive. Directions are as follows: Go 47 kilometers east of Dili. The road will curve around a wooded grove. At the track and sign turn right. You will now have to do a short 4x4 drive but will also be able to enjoy the pretty grove.
