Situated approximately 6km outside of Simon's Town on the Cape Point road. To reach Spaniards rock, which can be seen from the road, follow the steep path down to the entry and exit point, and swim for approximately 75m towards the rock. Note that a strong surge can develop when a swell runs in the bay, but the visibility is usually good in winter. The name "Spaniards Rock" derives from the bright yellow and red coloured sponges and marine life that cover the rock and surrounding reefs. The site is particularly suitable for snorkellers, as well as scuba divers of all experience levels.
