About

Norberto Diver offers unforgettable experiences above or below the sea. The center was created in 1996, by Norberto Serpa, the “sea-wolf”, who has more than twenty years of experience working with marine life. The Azores are, without a doubt, one of the best places for scuba diving in the whole Atlantic. Our diving season goes from April to October. The diving spots are very diverse and can fit all the preferences and levels of experience. They offer Coastal dive, Manta ray dive and Shark dive.*COASTAL DIVEUsually we dive around the marine protected area of “Monte da Guia” where the majority of our spots are located. To get there, we use our zodiacs once it’s only 5 minutes away from our dive center. The temperature of our waters range between 68 to 75 F (20-24ºC) in the summer months, therefore a 5mm or 7mm wetsuit is suitable. The coastal marine life in the islands of Faial is amazing. You will able to see many curious Grey Triggerfish (Balistes carolinensis), big Drusky Groupers (Epinephelus marginatus), Mediterranean Parrotfish (Sparisoma cretense), Octopus and Morays Eels that hide between the rocks as well as several species of small, colourful nudibranchs, among others.*MANTA RAY DIVE (PRINCESS ALICE BANK)The dive with Mantas (Mobula tarapacana) is classified as one of the best dives in the Azores. It’s located in a submarine bank named “Princess Alice”, more less 45 nautical miles on the South of Faial Island with 35 meters of depth. In this experience you will have the chance to dive in the heart of the Ocean with these majestic animals. Occasionally you also have the chance to see Tunas (Katsuwonus pelamis), Barracudas (Sphyraena viridensis) and Almacos Jacks (Seriola rivoliana). These trips are made from July to September, usually from 7:30h to 19:00h. It takes 3 hours to each side, after arriving we make the first dive, come back to the boat to make one hour of break while taking a light lunch, and after the second dive. Also this is a great chance for those who don’t have a diving certification, you can do snorkelling because mantas and other pelagic come closer to the surface.*SHARK DIVEJoin us on this most exhilarating tour! This trips are made from July to September, and we go to the diving spot by zodiacs, therefore is a half day trip. In this trip you will have the opportunity to see one of the fastest fishes in the ocean, the Blue shark (Prionace glauca). It’s one in a life time experience, where you have the chance to be in the world of this amazing predator. This dive is not considered a deep dive. The divers will be between the surface and 10 meters, the depth where the bait box is placed. The boat will drift and the divers and snorkelers will be near the boat. There will be a safety cable tied to the boat in case there is a strong current and for more unexperienced divers.----
