We started from scratch as Splash Gordon, a small dive shop in November of 1998. The thinking was that the location would be awesome for a dive shop, right across the road from some of Wellington's best divng. The company was formed by 2 brothers, one acting as a silent partner. With just one fulltime staff member and one part time employee things were busy. In the early days it was common to close the shop and put a sign on the door saying gone diving. The business grew and soon employed a 2nd fulltime person.Dave Drane joined the business fulltime in 2000 and brought into the business in 2002. The business continued to grow and became a Padi 5 star idc centre. In 2008 Dave and Paula brought the entire business. In 2012 the name was changed to Dive Wellington and the shop expanded to triple its original size. Dive Wellington was intrumental in helping with the sinking of the F69 and the implementation of Taputeranga Marine Resreve. We currently employ 5 full time staff members and 8 part time and are Wellingtons largest dive store. We offer all levels of diver training from beginner through to instructor level. We also provide tertiary education courses including Diploma in Scuba Instruction, a 42 week fulltime course which is eligble for student loans and allowances. We run overseas trips and local trips including from our own charter boat Southern Comfort. We have Wellingtons most active dive club. We service all brands of equipment in house.
