This is for the serious diver. Advanced technical diving and special skills are required for this ultimate adventure. Lake Otjikoto is a national monument and all groups need to be accompanied by members of the Namibian Underwater Foundation. But apart form all the technicalities invoved, Lake Otjikoto is a treasure chest not seen by many. During World War I, a large number of ammunition, cannons and wagons were dumpd into this lake when the German Troops surrendered to the defending British troops. With history in the water, this makes for a spectacular dive. The lake itself is formed like an inverted mushroom with depths ranging from 26m - 90m at the deepest point. the conditions underwater varies between a comfortable 18 - 25 degrees Celsius, and because this is an isolated lake there are no currents. When it comes to the surrounding area of Lake Otjikoto, you can only describe it as 'untamed'. Equipment needs to be carried and camping consist of only the necessary fascilities. Many requirements need to be adhered to simply because this area is a National Treasure and regarded as such when involving diving expeditions. This is a perfect place for photographers, naturalists and adventure seekers. Lake Otjikoto is literally a rare opportunity, but when taken, the most memorable one.
