Rio de Janeiro Maru lies near Uman, Chuuk Lagoon in water 35 metres (115 feet), 12 metres to top of wreck (39 feet) It's a 9,626 ton passenger / cargo liner converted to submarine tender, 142 metres (463 feet) long. The average visibility here is 25 metres (80 feet) It is the fourth largest ship in the lagoon. Sake bottles are strewn around the rear hold. It is mostly intact with the port bow damaged. It was a liner, used during the war for transport & sub tender, rests on its starboard side
