About Golden Gate Wreck

This was a Old paddle Steamship. It sank in July 1862 after catching fire enroute from San Fransisco. The steamship were carrying passangers and gold when it went down. In 1864 several cases of the gold were recovered. The majority was recovered when a local diver launched a massive salvage operation in 1960. Its beleived that some of the gold coins also washes up on shore and that lots of the gold still remains to be discovered. Regardless, this still mkakes a good dive with lots to see and experience.
