About Reef Beyond Rozi

The Reef Beyond Rozi, also known as Right Reef, is a technical dive site located near Cirkewwa. The reef extends in a northerly direction from the Cirkewwa Arch and the Rozi wreck. The top part of the reef remains at a depth of 15 to 20 metres, but after a 10-minute swim, the sandy bottom begins to slope down and the wall becomes steeper. At this point, the reef splits into two, with the shallower reef turning eastwards and the deeper reef continuing north. The northern reef quickly drops to around 30 metres and meets the sandy bottom at depths beyond 40 metres. This deeper reef features intriguing caves and overhangs with nets entangled on them.

This dive site is challenging and requires technical diving skills. Divers should be aware of the depth and time as it's a long swim back to shore. The area is often exposed to strong currents and is in the path of the Gozo ferries, making direct surfacing from the depths not an option. The Reef Beyond Rozi is not suitable for diving with recreational dive gear. The maximum depth of the site is 45 metres.
