About HMS Nasturtium

HMS Nasturtium is a World War I wreck dive located in Malta. This British sloop-of-war was built in 1915 and was primarily used for minesweeping. Unfortunately, it hit a mine outside Grand Harbour on the evening of 27th April 1916 and sank in the early hours of the following day. The wreck, which measures approximately 81 metres in length, lies at a maximum depth of 68 metres. Diving the wreck requires a special permit and is managed by Heritage Malta. The site was opened for divers on 1st May 2019.

In the vicinity of HMS Nasturtium, divers can also explore two other World War I wrecks: HMY Aegusa and HMS Russell, which sank in the same minefield on the same day. Other nearby wrecks include SS Polynesien and SS Luciston. The dive site is recommended for technical divers due to the depth and potential currents. The type of marine life that can be encountered at this site is not specified.
