5km S.W of Cape Clear and 15km from Schull lies Fastnet Rock, this well known dive site with it's trademark lighthouse provides one of the best dives in Ireland.Due to the strong current and unpredictable tidal surges this dive site should only be done by experienced divers and during calm weather. This dive site should rather be done in the company of others due to the possible changes in water conditions. If this site is dived in the correct conditions it's an almost perfect dive, with amazing scenery and various marine life. There are thin narrow gullies and depths can reach dangerous levels so make sure that you have someone keeping an eye on where you surface. This dive site should be dived during slack tide. The visibility is amazing here
