Southwest of Nusa Penida, on the south side of Gamet Bay, lies Crystal Bay, a small bay with a rocky island in its centre. If you dive directly down you will reach the reef top at a depth of about 5 to 10 meters. The reef has a white sandy base and is coated with anemones and soft coral. On following the north side of the bay towards its corner you will reach a cave (at a depth of about 12 meters) which is home to some bats (the cave opens to the sky). Reef sharks also inhabit the cave. Once you have explored the cave you can continue along the wall and see the occasional lobster hiding in the hard coral on the wall. The bay is exposed to the swell, which causes up and down currents. You can see manta rays, eagle rays, white tip sharks, and leopard sharks when the current is present.
