About Blue Lagoon

Just north of Padang Bai is a site known as Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon Reef is rather uninteresting with a white sandy bottom sloping to a depth of 22 meters before reaching a short section of wall. The fish life, however, is amazing at this reef. This site is great for sharks and you can see wobbegong sharks, white tip reef sharks, and even the rare catshark. There are also many varieties of smaller marine life such as shrimps, crabs, nudibranchs, squid, and octopus. The bay is quite protected so the water conditions at Blue Lagoon are usually good, with only a mild current and surge. This makes this site very easy to dive. Blue Lagoon is particularly popular with snorkelers, experienced divers and photographers and is also great for night dives.
