It takes 10 minutes onboard a Jukung (a traditional fishing boat with a maximum capacity of 3 divers) to reach Amed Reef, which is on the left side of the bay. On this reef you can observe various kinds of gorgonians and sponges, as well as marine life ranging from gobies and shrimps to schools of blue spotted rays and barracuda. You can also see many varieties of reef fish, such as surgeonfish, angelfish, and parrotfish (as well as the occasional moray eel). If you swim a bit deeper (to a depth of about 30 meters) you can find some white tip sharks sleeping on the sandy bottom. There is rarely any current but, when present, it flows towards the south and can make for a relaxing drift dive.
