Commander Hans Heidtmann surrenderd the submarine and was taken aboard by the Petard Destroyer with all the crew members. 3 Crew members of the Petard dove into the water and made their way to the U 559 in order to search for important documents. While inside, the submarine suddenly heeled over and sank taken two members of the Petard with her. This dive is deep and only recommended for advanced and technical divers. very thrilling !
