About The Zealand

A beautiful steam driven cargo vessel. She was launched in 1935 and served as a cargo vessel for one year before being converted into a passenger and cargo vessel. She sank on June 28 1942 under the command of Captain James Branagan. She was part of a convoy when a German U-97 Friedrich Burgel submarine open torpedo fire on her and the convoy. She sank taking a crew of 11 members and 4 gunners with her. She now rests in deep water and can only be dived by advanced level divers. Great explorer dive with lots to see.
