The SS Matai was a Union Steamship vessel. She sank on December 24, 1916 while carrying a load of Model T cars. The SS Matai is known to be one of the best wreck dives that Rarotonga has to offer, and this with good reason. Great underwater landscapes, abundant marine life and spectacular coral growth. Very photogenic and suitable for all level divers !
