West Hawk Lake is one of the most popular sport diving sites in Manitoba. The lake covers a total area of 3,685 acres, with a maximum depth of approximately 350 feet in the sediment-water interface. The lake basin was formed approximately 150 million years ago, during the Jurassic Period, by the impact of a meteorite. Today the lake hosts 15 distinct dive sites (6 Shore and 9 Boat dives) catering to divers from the novice to the advanced, with some sites in excess of 100 foot depths. The water temp below the thermocline, found at 35 feet in mid-July, sits in the high 40s to low 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
