Located 12.5 miles South of Port Colborne, ON, Canada, the Tonawanda is a great dive for divers of any skill level. This 202' long wreck sank in 1870 during a gale storm that sank 3 other ships. One boiler was removed as part of a salvage project in 1875 and the wreck suffered additional damage, as they tried to raise the hull and ended up causing more harm. While the bow of the ship is damaged heavily, the midship portions and stern section are in good shape. The wooden steamer features a beautiful propeller, drive-shaft and engine.
