About The Pinnacle (Brush Island)

Tipped the best site in New South Wales, The Pinnacle is a pleasurable deep location that has enough to offer dived a hundred times over. The base lies at 42m and it comes within 18m of the surface. When its warm, kingfish swim around the peak like eagles circling a ridge. Finding your way through to the bottom of the base through this lot is an incredible experience. At 23m there's a 10m long overhang where troops of big fish and a variety of species, depending on the time of the year, hang out. At the bottom is a small cave full of garden gnomes. Here you will also be able to experience one of the most talked about sponge coral garden in NSW . The only drawback is that it's a bit deep to stay mesmerised with but on your way back around the eastern part there are plenty of nudibranchs. If you ever get time the entire western side is home to a kelp forest and weedy sea dragons! Be aware that your sacrifice on this dive will be the currents those things that bring in all the good stuff you wouldn't be able to have fun on the dive without. They can peak to 6knots so if the surface is acting up best try the dive on another occasion. It's great during winter though in this case the current accommodates but the temp can go down all the way to 12degrees. To get there head south of Ulladulla for about 20km to Brush Island nearby Kioloa. Its 3km out in an that easterly direction on the boat, a bit far so it's not dived often hence the abundance of marine life.
