This Port Phillip Bay basalt rock annulus was built and fortified with guns, in a similar vein to the South Channel Fort, to protect the western shipping channel. It can reach 1200mm when the tide is low so what your anchorage. It can also get pretty crowded here on a nice summer day. Enter and then head NW. You can then drift round the outside back to the front but stay along the wall. There's plenty of marine life here especially with the tides that flow in. Keep an eye out for the Admiralty Anchor with a plaque as well as other junk lying around it. It's a marine reserve so the creatures here are protected.
