The downfall of this site is the distance. There's a climb involved that's rather steep. The site itself can be busy on weekends because of rec divers as well as open water students in training. There's a great spot under the tress to get kitted up and make sure you keep an eye on the ground because it's a pebble beach. There are cement stairs to facilitate your walk down to the shore. The Bay consists of an inner and outer section in a roughly hourglass-shaped area. The inner area only hits 10m and gets a bit blurry. There's an old engine block and a bit of marine life but the good stuff is deeper in a bit of a swim or walk where you can enter directly at 6m. The southern wall heads all the way round to the sea. Across the northern wall you can 'retrace' your steps back to the bay. The left is crevices and canyons with all sorts of marine action, the right side is subject to tide and waves and not always ideal to explore. Vis can dip to 22m when the day is fine . Remember its a protected area so if you break any rules you'll justly have your gear confiscated. To get there head out to Shell Harbour (south of Wollongong) and then on to Bass Point. At the point where the road forks take a right for 'Inner Bushies' and you will see Bushrangers Bay entrance on the left. The left fork will take you to 'Outer Bushies'.
